Supervisor Kevin VanTiem
called the meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance at 6:32 pm. Board
members present: Kevin VanTiem, Susan Walker, Steve Broka, Ed Schroeder, and Ron
Brabon. The Board reviewed the Clerk’s minutes as they were presented. Susan Walker made a motion to accept the
minutes as presented. Motion supported by Ron Brabon. Ayes – 5, Nays - 0, motion
carried. Ed Schroeder made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report. Motion
supported by Susan Walker. Ayes - 5, Nays – 0, motion carried. Susan Walker made a motion to pay the
bills as present. Motion supported by Ed Schroeder. Ayes - 5, Nays – 0, motion
carried.
Commissioner Report: The water is
coming back to the lakes! Rx for Kids & Pregnant Woman was launched in
Gladwin County. A pregnant woman will receive $1500 upon confirmation of
pregnancy and when the baby is born will receive $500 monthly for the first 6
months. Mid Michigan Community College is currently building an event center.
There will be a meeting on December 19, 2025 to decide if the courthouse will
be closed on December 26, 2025. The county has been in contact with the DNR
with about possibly taking over Trout Lake area. The DNR is being very uncooperative.
Fire Board Report: Chaplain Sprang reported he is
still distributing smoke and CO2 detectors. Chief Alward passed out a revised
2026 budget. Some revisions were passed out to it. Treasurer Bigham passed out
a sheet of the budget amendments being $18,240.00. Amendments were approved.
There were 15 fire runs from November 1 to November 22nd. We had no
fire runs in Buckeye Township during that time.
Hall Report:
There were three rentals for this
period. Underground power was hooked up and overhead wires that crossed the
parking lot were removed. Removed vent registers and vacuumed out the duct
work. Rolled paper towel dispenser in small bathroom is broken. I will pick up
a new one and replace it first chance I get.
Public Comment: None
Correspondence: The cost of
CS&A will have a larger than normal increase according to an email received
by the clerk.
Old and New Business:
OLD: None
NEW: More information needs to be submitted for the townships new
web page. We will be taking a photo of the current board to be posted. The
clerk will get names, numbers and a brief description of who to contact for
which office. Board minutes from the previous meeting will be posted on the
site after they are approved by the board.
A request
for a property split from William Parker with Joseph Randazzo to act as the
agent on his behalf. This split is just to clear up the property boundaries,
separating residential from commercial. Motion
was made by Ed Schroeder to approve
the split. Motion was supported by Ron Brabon. Ayes - 5, Nays – 0, motion
carried.
Treasurer
Steve Broka came before the board to change our checking account to an interest
bearing account. The interest would offset the fees we are currently being
charged. Current charges are $15 monthly for using online banking services and
$30 monthly for depositing too much cash. Motion
was made by Ed Schroeder to move the General Account to an interest bearing
account to offset the monthly charges. Motion was supported by Ron Brabon. Ayes
- 5, Nays – 0, motion carried. A second motion was made by Ed Schroeder to add
fraud protection. Motion was supported by Ron Brabon. Ayes - 5, Nays – 0, motion
carried.
A motion was made to adjourn the meeting
motion made by Susan Walker, seconded by Steve Broka. Ayes - 5, Nays – 0, motion
carried. Meeting was adjourned at 7:14 pm.
