Commissioner Report:  None

Fire Board Report:  There were 22 calls in January. Five calls in Buckeye Township: 2 EMS assists 2 downed power lines and one for gas smell. We have a new recruit, Eden Hodgson and she’ll begin her training in March. We had a discussion of the chief selection process which will continue into March. There seems to be differences of opinion among the board.

Hall Report:  There were two rentals for this period. One was a wedding and one a baby shower. We were told the fire extinguishers needed to be replaced in 2026. We may want to check on prices and where to purchase. Ice build-up on the NE porch is a problem we should address. Discussion followed a hot wire was installed to melt the ice buildup in the downspout. This is only a quick fix. Reconfiguring the roof line of the porch would be a permanent fix. Trustees will talk with the fire chief on how to determine when a fire extinguisher has expired.

Public Comment:   None

Correspondence:  Board of Election sent out a email stating RFP have gone out. New voting machines are a possibility at a cost of $15,000.00 per precinct; it will need to be budgeted for the 2026 – 2027 year.

Old and New Business:

OLD:  The topic of forestry was revisited. Kevin Claire Logging Company was contacted. We told him we didn’t want to clear cut. Mr. Claire stated if we sold by the cord we would make more money. Kevin Claire is a buyer for white pine. Mike Dittenber is our District Forester. The 6-8 diameter pines have been stunted by the older, taller pines and will not get any bigger. Clear cut the red pine which could yield $130,000.

NEW:  Parcel split application from Larry & Cindy Thornington to Brian Sprague and Christina Fitzpatrick for improvements, needs to be attached to Sprague properties. Motion was made by Susan Walker to approved parcel split as presented, seconded by Steve Broka. Ayes – 5, Nays - 0, motion carried.

A motion was made to adjourn the meeting motion made by Susan Walker, seconded by Ron Brabon. Roll call: Kevin VanTiem - Yes, Susan Walker - Yes, Steve Broka - Yes, Ron Brabon - Yes, Ed Schroeder - Yes, Nays - none. Motion carried.  Meeting was adjourned at 7:16 pm.

Respectfully,

Susan J. Walker, Clerk
